| Project Title: | Investigation of Dosimetric Characteristics of Normoxic Polymer Gel using Optical CT Scanner for Radiotherapy Applications |
| Abstract of Project : | |
| Gel Dosimetry offers an effective way to measure the spatial dose distribution of ionising radiation 3-dimensionally in a tissue equivalent gel medium. It is predestined for treatment planning and quality assurance in medical radiotherapy. The Optical CT evaluation on the gel provides a low-cost analysis of irradiation compared with MRI. I have been developing a low-cost laser CT scanner. I have obtained 3D images and dose profiles of the irradiated gel using this scanner. My Fulbright project will focus on the optical analysis on Bang Polymer gels and compare the results of my laser CT scanner with existing high resolution optical scanners. My research will be helpful in radiotherapy applications. | |
